yawn....

Had a nice long weekend, ran down south with a bunch of family members for.... well with this side of the family, it's nothing but eating and drinking haha... so yes, had the tummy filled nicely to the brim during thanksgiving with home-cooked food from relatives in Singapore....

it was nice :)

oh by the way, i know this is a bit slow (especially gene and huey, must be rolling their eyes haha) but recently i've gone nuts over Gackt's songs.. it started with Last Song (yes that is the song title) though, and orange sun (orenji no taiyou).... i like that type of style.. the rest, are still okay? but the moon's song (tsuki no uta) is not bad as well.. i like it when he sings like that hahah... (i.e slow... since i do like slow songs by default... keke)

i youtubed some of his music videos and came across some funny videos on him too.. joker hahahha XD (look at "magnum" hahha)

Am broke..... Donations highly welcomed..

This is the month where I've lost a lot of money....

No, no, not through gambling...... but through eating haha..

Have been going out a lot this month, (that would be fine, save for the places that I've been going were all so pricey.. sigh)

Anyway, had dinner with high school classmates on Thursday 121109, celebrated Cheese's Birthday on Saturday 141109, and 昨日はお母さんの誕生日です161109 (今日は実は九時午後ですはは), went out with University mate - QW with Ai kun on Sunday 151109.... badminton on Friday 131109 was a tad pricier now... =.=' went for movies.... watched 2012 on... Saturday after Cheese's Birthday as well...

Ermm... movie was so-so..... by the way, word of advice, watch with a not so intellectual mind and don't analyse too much.. either than that CGI suckers like me, should like it enough XD

Ahh, back to the outings.... sigh.... all so pricey.... am so broke.. sobs... please donate haha

hmm work wise... currently.. well..... self esteem is still a bit low, since I'm still facing a lot of things I don't know, especially with regard to the investments part.. ( still in the learning process - need to speed up!!!)..

guess it doesn't help that I am quite blur and slow..haha although I've some great and helpful teachers here :) A really big heartfelt thanks to them for sharing their knowledge with me, for correcting my mistakes and for putting up with my blur-ness (not to mention my retarded-ness haha though that's no secret I can be quite retarded :p) haha XD

All in all, it's still encouraging.. may be struggling to keep my head above the water, but its a good struggle.... if there's such thing as a good struggle... (life is a challenge??)

But yeah.. am working on it... (where art thou my beloved brain.. come back, come back to me... - ehem.. sorry.. being a bit Shakespearean dramatic here haha)

However, seriously, sitting on your butt the whole day and staring at the computer screen does take a toll on you... my butt feels so, so, so damn sore... so does my neck and shoulders from crouching over to read documents... my eyes... arghh... (having sensitive eyes is a pain.. literally..)

either than that... have been watching Fringe (stolen from my Master... haha) it's okay and all, quite addictive..... sometimes? but the best is Dr. Bishop, and his son Peter.. Dr. Bishop is so cute and funny haha.... I love his random obsession with food... (maybe it's cause I can connect with him on that level... only that level... I'm no mad scientist!! haha)

well that's all for the random rambling this round.. till then.. toodles....

much love

やた...

I'm done with the twilight series, well was done yesterday. so all 4 books gone..

What can I say about it.. hmmm~ well... the English was okay, fairly simple to understand, not the type where you've to reach for a dictionary every few words, that made reading it quite fast as well I guess... simple english... i didn't feel the need to reach for the dictionary at all actually...

Story wise... if I weren't crazy bout vampires (and supernatural stuff, and mysteries etc..)... I might not have picked it up?

Writing wise... ermmm.... okay, I guess? it was in the first person point of view... words/sentences used were... very teenager-like... some things felt a bit stupid like.. "a scream wanted to escape my throat but for Edward's hand" (something along those line if you get my drift) or something like that... but ermm.. I can't place my finger on it.. but I find lines like that stupid.... maybe I read too much Tolkien? =.=' i need more dramatic description...? haha

I mean storywise, if you tell me a huge vampire coven is coming after you... that's okay... but.. ermm.. starting from about the 3rd book onwards..? the writing style.. didn't agree that much with me... or maybe it was the plot.. I think it was the plot... somehow it didn't appeal that much to me...

the first book was more intruiging.. suddenly i get werewolves and crap.. that was all still okay.. the way she got me in suspense... by first describing an animal bigger than a bear.. which we later find out to be wolves... but not any wolves.. but those wolves.. and those people... but going on to the 3rd and 4th book.. i felt the plot a little weak, and sort of rushed...

and a bit crappy.. why did her powers suddenly became so damn powerful??? like.. errr..? i find that part kind of irritating... (too cliché perhaps? the reason why i don't watch much anime anymore, you know dragon ball and stuff.. no offense though...) whatever, it's a supernatural story.. so yea.. if you read it with an empty head... (it's suitable for leisure reading) it's nice.. overall, it's okay.... (once i overlooked a number of stuff, which I had decided to, to make reading more pleasurable) so still not that bad a read, if you love supernatural stuff, and vampires like moi haha..

Should have taken some pictures...

Satoshi Kun and Huey chan should recall this..

For my birthday some years back, the two dear souls awarded me with a koala wrist rest for the computer with little glow in the dark hearts in it...

It's lasted me some good years... am sorry for my abuse, am really am.. I loved the thing.. cute to look at.. nice to poke and squeeze... ahh.. squeeze....

Anyway... it's a little soft plastic koala filled with a sort of gel and little pink glow in the dark hearts, and it was on my table for years? Yeah, I think years... till......

Today....

Was ermm.. utilizing it and then its little stopper popped out, spilling its goo onto my table and the floor.. it was fun to play with?? (amidst screams from my mom that it was disgusting and possibly held some dangerous substance in it and insisting i clean it up) but it looked plain ol' disgusting as well.... I should have taken pictures of it before I cleaned it up... (Unfortunately I will have to lay off my mom's description of what it looked like, but I will say that between what she compared it to, she thinks it looks more like mucus haha disgusting!! so she says :p kekeke)

I saved some of the glow in the dark hearts, but all suggestions to re-inject the goo into koala was stubbornly rejected by my mother, so it was bye-bye koala...and that's the end of my koala, shall need to shop for another one.. or.. ermm hint, hint? haha.. (I think I'll shop for a cute doggie wan haha)

On another note, legal aid today was fun.. (usually is..) and we planned to go somewhere together once our stint is over... and to decide.. gosh.. put a bunch of lawyers-to-be in a room to decide something and you get funny things like elections, re-elections, appeal courts, supreme courts and consent judgements coming out... haha.. hilarious..

Earlier, a few (namely a friend and I???) of us had decided on the date before hand.. then we raised a meeting.. (Law people might find this more humorous? sorry...)

First, we ran elections to chose a place?...(we were torn between two locations) and had elections, by-elections, and re-elections? (we joked that we were worse than Perak haha since we kept shuffled between the two locations ) = We voted for a place amongst ourselves (there were only 10 out of 14 of us.. so we were still the majority...) again and again, and again..

The decision went from the high court, to the court of appeal to the federal court and supreme court (meaning, we had serious problems deciding where to go..)

it was a 5-5 vote so we gave our team leader the concession to vote again, and..... the results were out!!

Having decided on the venue, we decided on the restaurant, and another round of elections (voting ) begun.

That done a consent judgement (a sort of an agreement, but it cannot be varied or set aside, unless under reasonable circumstances, because a consent judgement is usually given by the court when both parties are agreeable to something) was entered with everyone signing.... (Yes, the crazy bunch we are, we actually signed it.. all of us..)

Reason was, we didn't want anyone to start changing their minds when the appointed date came..

And we joked that we will have to pass a motion (another round of voting, 75% agreeing?) to determine our plans of a monthly meet up once our dock brief programme (programme by the legal aid centre where we have to go to court and mitigate for criminals) ends..

It was a fun day...

Happy Chinese New Year

To everyone who celebrates it.. (Though it doesn't really matter if you do or don't, just enjoy the festivities!! XD)

"Happy Chinese New Year
"

Yes!! Rejoice for spring is here..... Well at least in China it is...... Short history to Chinese New Year?

If I'm not wrong, Chinese Astrologists used to calculate when spring would be coming every year, and we would celebrate, the coming of a new year, of a new harvest now that the harsh winter has passed....

However, Legend has it that, every certain number of days, this certain monster would come out... the monster was called 年 (nien, meaning year in Chinese) This monster would come every certain number of days and wreck havoc to the village for 15 days, leaving behind a trail of destruction.

So finally some wise old men... or so they say, they could have been young guys for all I know.. but apparently, this bunch of wise old men,or maybe an old man? Discovered that ,this Nien creature... Doesn't like the colour red, nor does it fancy loud sounds, and also it comes out every 300 or so days... (or at the beginning of spring??)

Hence before the predicted time, the old men/young guys/old man told the villagers to deck themselves and their houses in red and to release fireworks, for the period of 15 days... and lo and behold the Nien creature never returned... So every year they celebrate it as such........ THE END...

That's one of the stories.... I guess haha...

Okay, enough with that.. now it's the year of the Ox...... which.... I've no idea what the significance is.. Since it changes on a yearly basis.. but next year is the Tiger year, so hence the recession..... Why a recession every time it's the year of the Tiger.. Apparently because 虎, in Chinese is pronounced as "fu" which means bitter.. hence a bitter life.. Sigh......

Curious souls about the Chinese Astrology.... why do we have 12 animals and why is there no cat???

The story has it that.. one day Buddha invited all the animals for a celebration/banquet... or you may replace that with the Jade Emperor (A Heavenly being, Chinese has a lot of deities) invited all the animals to enter a race... (Am not very sure about the racing thing... But I do know about the Bhuddha celebration....Anyway...) For these events only 12 animals showed up... and they were (in sequence) the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.

Thus the years of the Chinese Zodiac, were named in accordance with which animal arrived at the banquet first/ finished the race first...

Sometimes we get people asking, why isn't there a cat? If there's the rat and dog, where's the cat?

Well story has it that.. The Rat and the Cat used to be the best of mates.. But somehow when the Banquet/Race invitations were sent out.. The rat being the smart little thing it was, realised that there was bound to be some prize involved or something.. So being the cunning little thing it was.. it told the Cat that the celebrations/race was a day after the actual date.. so the Cat naturally believing it's good friend, slept through the day in which the celebration/race was held, and therefore did not make it..

The Cat upon realising it was tricked, vowed vengeance upon the rat.. and thus till today.. Cats chase and kill mice....

Another thing about the story was.. the Rat being such a small creature, how could it reach the celerbation/finish the race first...?

Well, the Rat being the cunning little being it was... rode on the back of the Ox, and just as when the Ox was about to reach the finishing line. it jumped ahead of the Ox thus being the first creature...

So now we have it that, a person being born in the year of the rat will be cited as cunning and smart... as is the same with all the other animal years.. Apparently we take on some of the characteristics of the animal in which the year we were born in...

And there we have it.... Some...little stories on our Chinese New Year...

Again, Happy Chinese New Year Everyone!!

I miss London...

Got the link for the video below off my sister...

When it first started playing I was like hey.... I know the place.. so I restarted it to read the front part, to know the venue.. and I was like damn! I really miss the place... Sigh....

I used to stay at my cousin's at Liverpool St... So, yes, am very familiar with the Liverpool street station... XD

Damn I really miss London.. The transportation system there was way better than ours.. as in more connected.. minus the "Man under the train" every now and again.....

T-mobile did a really good advertisement.. I think it must have taken quite a bit of work.. since they can only practise between about 1-2am till about 5-6 am.. that's the only time the stations are closed...

I still remember having to pick my sister up at about 12 at night haha... it was really that safe, that I could just run out like that to catch a train/The Underground to go get her at Victoria station... I miss that sense of security.... (However, there are still crooks & drunks, so you still have to be careful....)

Don't ever ask me to do it here.. I might never come home alive..... =.='

人が変わった

Title: hito ga kawatta : People change

Yes, the year 2009 is here, and people all change with time, for better or for good.. even I've changed... but that's another story.... on to something else.. just wanted to get that off my chest...

ermm.. had a busy day.... today... sorry, make that yesterday since it's already 440am...

had badminton on friday night, came home at about 1 i think, showered and slept at about 2 something, had to wake up in the morning, around 930 for breakfast with mike.. woke up to her call, and had no peace getting ready, as james called me to ask about chambering stuff...

went to eat dim sum at DJ then came back around 1210? or earlier? put my laundry in to wash, Seoh came over, then at 1225 it was out again, for lunch along with xin yin and leong to celebrate a early birthday for leong.

came home.. around 4 something, tried to sleep... but what with the insistent text messages, i got so irritated, i finally turned the phone to silent and slept. Even the phone was feeling tired, seeing that I just charged it the night before, I actually had to charge it again.. that's how much messages I was getting??

woke up later to get ready to go out with michelle, for a super mini G1 gathering at sunway.

had trouble getting ready, as everyone seems to be hunting for me... still... =.=' I can't shower nor dress in peace!!! (-.-')
and the fact that the clubbing plans for the night had trouble... it's either karaoke or clubbing.. which later at dinner it was settled to karaoke...

Went to Yuen's at Sunway, with nicole, siew kim and michelle... ate till about 9 something. .got home around 925, called gene, and he came round around 945 with leong and huey in tow...

and we went to karaoke where we were joined by yee jin, till 4, actually, we got kicked out.... and then we looked for the car, and got home now at 440...

so yeah.. what a day... my motto of moderation is gone... hence my consistent complaints..
I can't help it, when I go out, it's the whole day and non-stop.. why can't there be moderation in this??? but usually I don't complain when I've to stay home..... but still...

one thing about today.. really tiring.. but I found a new singing voice that I really like haha.. Gene has been dethroned.. but I don't think he cares anyway...

-Oracl3-

going to bed now... typed this in 10 minutes =.=' nights everyone..

am so broke..... donations are hugely welcome....

smokes gets in my eyes.. literally...

31st October 2008 was halloween.. although this country of mine doesn't widely celebrate it as in like the west, Mel decided to organise one for our university mates.. so we did.. and on the 31st we ended up at TGIF at the curve for dinner and to well.. just be what we aren't haha..

Well.. there's nothing much to say here.. the pictures will say it all, when blogspot or maxis.. stops being such and ass and allows me to upload pictures.. so await an edit to this post...

Edit

Here we have Terence as the Joker from batman.. Me as a Japanese School girl... most likely from Tokyo haha.. Xian Ai & Wei Li the devil... Some waiter from TGIF posing as grim the ripper and Marlyn as some vampire...

after dinner we headed to Quatron near KLCC for some clubbing.. it's anew club with the concept of having 4 seasons.. hence the reason of my post now... If you are the kind like me, who goes clubbing for the dancing part and not the drinking part.. then please spare yourself the misery of going to Quatron..

That place is for people to drink!! There is no dance floor.. I reapeat... THERE IS NO DANCE FLOOR. The place is horrid if you hate ciggeratte smoke like me.. and well my allergies thank you to it.. My eyes sting like mad.. and well.. strangely enough.. I didn't cough that much as I thought I would.... Well in return I got a headache.. guess the people nearby must have been smoking... ermm.. Dunhills I think... Well, if I recall correctly that's the brand that gives me minimal cough but a huge headache... sigh..

Well, the smoke was horrible for my eyes.. and I suffer the effects still... one day after that.. And I've washed my hair twice and it STILL STINKS OF CIGGERATE SMOKE... Woe is me.....

Listening to Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture..... fitting?? Watched 2 movies today.. The Holiday and 21.. Yesterday I watched Just Like Heaven.. all 3 are nice movies.. shall review them later when I get the chance... Since I start work this coming monday... =.='

And also speaking of which.. when the club asked for contact details I purposely changed one of the digits of my handphone number to avoid getting spammed by them.. and woah... they still managed to send spam to me... =.=' horrible.. totally horrible...

What??!!

Edited.. sorry about me looping into the future.. and the spelling mistakes, and ermm.. I missed out about ranting about the cockroaches at Williams.. and ermm... yeah... I think that's it haha..

Somehow I've got 4 papers cuts on 3 different fingers on my right hand, how, what, when, why? I've no idea.. but one of them hurts real bad... realised it once I was done cooking dinner...

Absence from cyber world and blogging is due to Korean drama, and reality.. i.e. real life..

Been out quite a bit this week... that's why, as I've said.. it's never balanced.. it's either go out one shot, or stay home and rot...

So yeah..
Friday, 10th October 2008
, drove.. yes I drove.. to SS2 and seapark to buy somethings.. helped with dinner and some house chores, and it was badminton.. Didn't play that much this round.. was too tired..

Saturday 11th October 2008....
In the afternoon it was to Itallinies at Midvalley to celebrate Chelle's birthday.. Had a nice time catching up, chatting randomly about dogs.. and stuffing myself silly with pasta :p Happy birthday Chelle (well, whether it's early or late now haha)

We had James, Mel, Me, Jin Fong, Vivian, Chelle and Xian Ai. We had Abby earlier on, but she left for class, it being a Saturday and all. And well, Maryln dropped by with Chelle's prezzie.

At night was the MPO: Beethoven's Overture Egmont, Mendelssohn's concerto for 2 pianos and Brahms Symphony No. 1 in C minor (Op. 68)

All popular pieces, and it was really nice..

People that went, were, me, Xian Ai, Xin Yin, Thomas, Wei Hao & Kevin..

Went to yum cha at Williams after that with Thomas And Kevin.. It was nice sitting down and chatting about our class last time haha

Oh I forgot to mention. Someone let go something like a firework and OMG, COCKROACHES STARTED CRAWLING OUT OF THE DRAINS.. EEEEWWWW horrible.. and disgusting... the girls in the table next to us left.. but the guys were okay with it.. =.=' so yeah.. we stayed...

Came home really tired.. but still.. didn't sleep early.. haha...

Sunday 12th October 2008, Watched my Korean drama? Don't think I went out till at night, to Mel's church for a theatre.. sketches more like it, called "This crazy thing called love" by the footstools, KLPAC. Was really nice, and meaningful.. and might I add TRUE!!.. Thanks for inviting mel.. it was nice... though I must admit.. due to my tiredness I almost fell asleep at some point.. but I was awake for everything... I mean well.. at least I heard the whole performance haha..

Had a not very good night's sleep.. no thanks to the annoying fleas that resulted from my neighbour.. as precious sleeps in my room, he must have brought some with him up to my room.. and though he hasn't been sleeping on the bed since he has had his fleas.. they crawled onto my bed, and bit me!! sad.. spent a paranoid night.. and I caught 4 of them.. on my bed.. nuisance.. this fleas... neighbour down the road.. has also complained about the fleas.. sigh....

Monday... 13th October 2008.. what did I do... hmmm... sprayed my room, to kill whatever fleas was abound.. ahh lazed around and attended my high school's alumni meeting at night.. was feeding mosquitoes at Ming Tien.. =.=' According to one of the alumni members, who experienced the same flea problem thing.. it took her a month to get rid of all the fleas.. woe is me.. her house is a single storey.. mine is double storey, does that mean I will have to take double the amount??

But after spraying my room.. the constant flea check that precious has been put under came out negative for once.. so the spraying worked? Had a good night's sleep...

14th October 2008, i.e. today.. Went down to KLCC to collect my offer letter.. met up with Mel, Chi ming, Terence, and Joshua for lunch and went to watch a movie called... house bunny?

not a bad show.. shall review it on Critically Acclaimed later when I'm free...

After the movie, we headed back.. and Mel and I headed to Taylor's to waste one hour of our life on this Q&A thingie.. waste of time and petrol.. geh...

and that's all for the updates the past few days...

Oh and the retarded thing has been completed, within 7 hours, though it was spaced out... but I know how many hours cause of the episodes of my korean drama that I watched as I made it.. and apparently it doesn't look that retarded.. but cute.. I guess.. but oh well we will see.. *stay tuned to find out more*

Quick Facts...

So titled as it's already 3am and I want to sleep, so am trying to keep it short and sweet.. Or so I hope.... Will elaborate later, if I feel like it... or maybe not....

26th September 2008, Friday.
  • Went for my first badminton game in 4 years[?] with, Xian Ai, Mel, Xin Yin, Chi Ming & Kevin Wong at Puay Chai's primary school from 9-11pm.... Suffering the after effects now. Muscle pains etc Real good work out though...

  • Playing badminton with the left hand [which is my recessive hand] is retarded-ly fun, and challenging. Had a good laugh...

  • Had quite a bit of fun, if not for the muscle pains that set in, in about an hour after playing.. shows how lethargic I've been lately.. Really should exercise more..

27th September 2008, Saturday.
  • Due to badminton ending at 1130pm the night before, and going for supper, I ended up home at 1230am.. And slept late, as I had to shower, dry my hair etc..

  • At about 9 something, dad woke me up for dim sum at DJ, not bad, will review it later on Critically Acclaimed, when I'm free...

  • Right after breakfast, headed to BU for shopping with parents, to buy work clothes. Trying on clothes with muscle aches, is a real pain, literally... And I think, if my mom wasn't there, I wouldn't know how to chose clothes.. Guess my lack of enthusiasm for shopping spurred this..

  • Why must work clothes be so bloody expensive??

  • Came home around 4pm, and took a nap. Parents went out for a wedding dinner, so had dinner with precious... Yummy Chicken Rice!!

  • At 925pm, Thomas came to pick me up for yum cha at SS2, with Wai Mun and Hoc Mun. I didn't know that, they called that a mamak.. The so called place near the polic station.. A mini Petunian gathering? Xin Yin joined in later. Left the mamak at bout 12am, after all the god damn bloody ciggeratte smoke, nearly killed my lungs. Thanks Thomas for buying the drinks, and driving me :)

  • Got home, checked mail, and continued my Taiwan drama.

  • Was about to sleep at 230am, when upon carrying precious, noticed a multitude of ticks on him!! I don't think he had them yesterday.... Then again, I didn't really carry him yesterday...

  • Never in his 6 years of life, did he have so many ticks!! WTF is wrong?? Got rid of all of them, [I hope] but am at a lost as to why he has so many ticks, no going into the garden for him.. Bloody stray dogs... =.='
Final note:

Need to clean room & toilet, and get back to my translating the ghost hunt volume 10 manga... & I should, internet connection witholding, finish my Taiwanese drama... Am watching Itazura na kiss/いたずらなKiss, both the Taiwan Drama [The Sequal, watched the first part in Reading], and the Anime... About half way through...

Malaysia International Fireworks Competition 2008

Edit: Group Picture has been added!!

Also.. I've sort of cross posted this.. With a slighlty different commentary on Critically Acclaimed Info.. Henceforth CA...

On the 29th of August 2008, Cheese, Xin Yin, Me, Mel & Xian Ai headed down to Putrajaya to watch the International Fireworks competition 2008 hosted by the Ministry of Tourism..

Due to some unforeseen circumstances we were slightly behind schedule, although we made it in time to watch the fireworks from the start till the end..However, unfortunately, we couldn't get a good spot... But the spot we got wasn't bad either..

Ermm country showing off.. I mean.. well you get what I mean... Was Australia on that day..

The blasted fireworks for close to 20 minutes and it was time to leave... =.=' I thought that I would get to see more.. But apparently each country is given it's own day.. so one day one country.. refer to the site [Link above] for more information.. But I digress, back to the topic at hand...

Hence, once we reached a relatively good spot... Cheese who had brought a tripod, set it up.. and the fireworks started...

OMG.. Atomic bomb?? O_o'

The after effects and the pollution caused by the atomic bomb..... Are those flying body parts of victims... *cringes in horror..*

Okay, okay.. I apologise.. I'll stop being a drama queen & I won't give the competition a bad name.. honestly the fireworks weren't that horrendous.. It was due to my camera that it turned out looking like some atomic bomb attack or something...

Further I was using the special mode for fireworks and without a tripod.. And standing still for at least 15 seconds wasn't an option for me... Hence the disastrous [Literally] effect..

Xin Yin mounted her camera onto the tripod and got much better shots.. befitting the competition...
Compared to my atomic bomb.. this is way... nicer

and more...

more???

Okay that's enough... makes you feel jaded..

After watching the opening for the Beijing's Olympics.. I'm sorry.. but copying the smiley face.. didn't really appeal much to me either.. maybe it was because we were so far away.. that we didn't feel the "oomph" of the fireworks...

You know.. your heart doesn't jump in time with each bang or boom...

Last but not least a group picture... is what I'm wearing considered revealing??
I mean not to say anything, but I don't really feel that way.. It's just like a guy wearing a singlet right? o_O'

But overall it was really fun... especially the journey there.. as they say.. it's not the destination that matters but the journey there.. How true that is..

We had so many laughs in the car.. and poor Cheese who was the driver was being badgered by 4 girls.. and we all know, and have to admit.. the female species isn't the best in directions.. shouts of "left" & "right" at the same time.. left the poor kid confused haha.. Added in with jokes of.. getting lost.. and going all the way to Kajang for satay if we were to get lost or to Semenyih to see Cheese's University Campus haha..

I had a lot of fun in the car...

After the fireworks we headed back home to Aman Suria for a little Yum Cha session at Kayu's...

Eating, drinking and chatting.. After Aeons I finally had my Ramly Burger and Indon Mee... Yes.. I know.. I eat a lot.. or rather.. I ate a lot that night...

So at bout.. 12 something close to 1? We left the mamak and headed home.. With Cheese dropping everyone home.. and he and I experienceing a little expedition in Paramount Garden haha... It was a fun night.. Now to cross post this on critically acclaimed? :p

Karaoke 210808

On the 21st of August 2008, after refusing to plan any outings because Seoh said he would do it... Which, as expected, in the end resulted in it being arranged and planned out by me and Leong, we went out for karaoke.. [I was dubbed the Event Manager ==' pay me and I won't mind the title haha... >:)]

Unfortunately, as Seoh had work, we had to go at night... ==' which means more expensive.. sigh.... But all the same we had fun... So who went? well, there was obviously the 3 people mentioned above, plus Xin Yin and her friend.. Pei Ling? Hope I got her name right...

I honestly wasn't very happy that I had to end up doing the work, when it was only for 4 people, and Seoh was busy bragging that he had orgnized bigger things than this.. knowing him, his information isn't credible.. or maybe he is more responsible when it comes to work, but couldn't give two hoots when it comes to friends...

Since he was bragging so much, I meant to teach him a lesson, and I decided to really not lift a finger.. if he doesn't do it, I just don't karaoke, simple I won't die from that.. but guess Leong really wanted it? haha cause he got the ball rolling, and arranged for a time when we were all free... hence.. we ended up in Red Box at the Curve..... Though I had expected it to turn out that way... I still wasn't happy =.='

But I wasn't about to let that spoil my mood for the night right? and besides.. Seoh offered to drive.. so it was all well and fine... and off we went for a buffet karaoke...

The new pop star? haha

Xin Yin & I, you know, actually this picture was taken upside down? Honestly 360.. Maybe.... Hmm... oh well... *shrugs..* cross your fingers to say goodbye to days where you tilt you heads to view my pictures here...

Obviously and outing is never complete without a groupie..
Well, we should know everyone here by know.. the unknown is Pei Ling. We've got some posers here haha

Nick Leong & I

Nick Seoh & I, after many attempts of trying to take this picture by ourselves.. cause he's vain?? it's the truth... haha

Pop stars in the making? haha Those were some of the food we ate haha..

And that 's all.. nothing much.. we sang/screamed?? till we were haorse, and well, I think the fun thing bout night karaoke is, if they don't have patrons waiting to take over your room.. you can sing till kingdom come....

Not to say it's my first time karaoke-ing at night, but the last round we left to catch fireworks, and well, me being a poor student... We usually go in the day time cause it's cheaper... It was an experience.. and it was quite fun.. Did I mention.. really pricey too? O_o'

Random Outings...

EDITED: Thanks Chelle for reminding me :)

The title says it all..

okay on the 5th of august 2008 I think... I went out with Mel and Xin Yin to get our MPO tickets for our show which would be on the 15th of august..

Since we were already there, we decided to catch a movie too. we watched Mummy 3 the dragon king.. I think.. starring Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh.. the usual... Though I prefer the old actress for Evie...

oh, I remembered when I wanted to blog about this, but forgot bout it, when I actually got down to blogging, cause well.. was distracted haha.. anyway.. Chelle reminded me, that I forgot to mention something :p

After the movie was over, in the movie theatre.. as Mel wanted to catch the name of one of the actresses, we sat down for a bit, and down at the bottom of the steps, I saw two figures waving at presumably us.. Now, most of you all know, that my eyesight isn't exactly superb.. Xin Yin hasn't a clue who they were, and Mel didn't seem to be paying them any attention.. A quick glance around.. seems to say they are waving at us..

So I stared a tad longer, and realised that the outline of the body, hair etc.. resembled people that I know.. namely Chelle and Vivian haha.. So I boldly waved back ahha.. after I told them this, Vivian laughed and said, they should have acted like some weirdo waved at them, haha.. jokers.. Well, we also met, Yogis, and Uma too..

Such a coincidence that we were all in the same theatre on that day :) We enjoyed a little chat, where Viv actually said they were going to Penang too!! on the same dates as us.. we were happy.. but it was short-lived.. cause they didn't make it, while we did end up in Penang on the said dates.. but there's next time :p after chatting for quite a bit.. as it was kinda rude to Xin Yin, so we decided to make a move.. since we had to meet Seoh too who was working in a nearby hotel......

Nicholas Seoh had insisted on meeting up for dinner.. but as Xin Yin & I wanted to go home for dinner, we merely accompanied him, and snacked in burger king :p

Mel & I pulling at a piece of fried cheese??

Well , after that it was home...

A few days later.. on the 8th of august 2008, the day the Beijing Olympics 2008 opened. I went with Nicholas Leong to Ming Tien for dinner, and was supposed to meet up with a primary school friend.. on the way, as we were walking to Ming Tien, we bumped into Nicholas Seoh, who was walking Keng Mei, my neighbour home.. Hmm~ suspicious.... but oh well.. if they were suspicious, I'm super suspicious then... haha... So Seoh joined us for a while, and left just before my friend showed up...

Which friend? Well, look below... haha

Li Qin & I, we were like best buddies in primary school, she sat in front of me in standard 6 haha.. those were the days.. so fun, and we used to go for librarian duty together and all.. felt a little old? but she didn't change much.. neither did I, I guess... Anyway, Leong helped to take this picture...

Since the 8th was the opening of the Olympics.. I managed to watch it somewhat at Ming Tien, unlike stupid RTM 1 who interrupted such an important live telecast with stupid commentaries and advertisement and not to mention they started 30 minutes late..

How stupid can they get.. It has been going on for days that this will be the BEST opening for the Olympics that the world would have seen, that it will start on the 8th of august 2008, at 8hour08minutes08seconds and yet instead of rescheduling the 8pm news or whatever.. they just showed it late.. idiots... Calls to show a repeat has been ignored.. real idiots...

Well, even though I managed to somewhat catch it at Ming Tien, I couldn't really hear it all that clearly... and I was busy chatting with friends.. but whatever I managed to catch.. it was superb..

The REALLY AMAZING thing about it, is that.. it made all Chinese people all over the globe, proud to be a Chinese.. Even if they are bananas [i.e. Chinese people who can't speak Chinese...] it didn't matter that we are like the 3rd or 4th generation since our great, grandparents or whatever, left China to seek greener pastures in foreign soil, we were all just proud to be Chinese.. that it was so superb... so cultural.. so easternly oriental.. ahaha..

Just magnificent.. and so far.. China is leading with the most gold medals now... I managed to watch some of the sports.. and woah.. are they good.. the China contestants.. that won gold.. Really deserved it.. like in synchronized diving.. the two divers were like mirror images.. so damn cool.... and perfect...

well others were cool too ahha.. and well, Malaysia got her first? medal? in the badminton singles!! not bad :) but anyway, that's all for now...

I know there has been a whole lot of lack of political posts lately.. but that's because there's nothing going on either than anwar's sodomy case... either than that.. actually I've a ton of questions, and remarks.. but as I fear ISA.. I can't exactly write it all down.. that would leave definite incriminating evidence against me.. so lately, I've been expressing my views verbally to whomever wishes to discuss whatever with me..

But I'm still a little behind in the political scene, due to my exams.. and I haven't really gotten round to reading Malaysia Kini or Malaysia Today.. but I get some snippets of information from my dear father who reads it religiously almost every day.. :p

Anyway, I doubt anyone would be able to answer me if I asked them things like.. What happened to Balkis.. and of the 30 000 supporters in permatang pauh, weren't the majority of them for Anwar? Malaysia Kini I think.. or Malaysia Today reported that BN only had about 8-10 thousand supporters..

How on earth do we trust the main stream media..? sigh.. no wonder everyone turns to online media... and well.. A particular political party thinks we are still stupid and sucking off our mother's nipples, with the stupid things they are doing.. they have to bear in mind.. one reason they lost is because most of us are young voters.. who fortunately.. own a good brain!!

I'm sorry it became political.. on to the next post, and we call it a night.. since MSN is being an ass.. and not letting messages get through.. or even connecting.. sigh.. People.. please start using google talk or Yahoo messenger please?

Amoeba...

Me...... An amoeba?? =.='

Well, since I don't really refer to myself as human 89% of the time.. guess that's somewhat acceptable... So..... Why the title? And why am I an amoeba....?

This is a true story...

However names will not be mentioned to protect the identity of my cousin.. [or well, attempting too.. haha] so here's what transpired 3 days ago...

Well, I don't think others will find this amusing or even remotely amusing... as I found it... but well, This is just one more for my journal...

Here's the story...

My brother called home... And didn't really want to talk to me either online or on the phone.. [because apparently I nag too much for my age... Sigh..]

Sigh, and well my sister was really busy too, so I had no one to disturb.. sigh.. feeling lonely and dejected, without any prey human to disturb online, and possibly due to other unknown angsty issues.

I had put my MSN status as... "Loneliness is poison to the soul" And I went about my own things, blogging, reading manga etc.. I was talking to one friend.. i.e Cheese.. when suddenly this cousin [hereinafter known as C] of mine suddenly messaged me on MSN, here's the rough conversation..

C: dont be a despo lah. your nick sounds like u just brokeup or something, I am crying just looking at it

Me: despo?

C: Desperate la, u so young

Me: hmm~ well.. i'm not desperate.. just depressed haha, there's a difference :p

C: kao [no idea what he meant by this]

*some other conversation about time zones, whether I'm looking for jobs, where I wanna work.. him going to visit my brother and sister soon, took place here... then suddenly...I'm serious, randomness runs in this family.. talking about me wanting to find a job, he suddenly said this... [guess he was trying to change the subject back to my nick, since I deviated haha]*

C: you need a bf is it... loneliness. even your bro has a gf hahahaaa

Me: haha bf ar? i find them troublesome la as frens ok la. bf.. too much trouble. i'm not lesbo.. but i don really hv any interest in guys [This wasn't in the conversation, but just to explain, I meant no interest at the moment.. maybe because Mr Right hasn't come along yet..] haha n my mom also getting worried liao haha

C: lesbo lesbo, what a despo

Me: haha, well.. tats just me la haha

C: u be single ok. dont go and steal girls from us men. having a hard time finding good girls

Me: haha, If i ever get interested in them la ahha. As it is I'm some alien neither interested in men nor women haha

C: amoeba. ok stay that way. good

Me: haha. amoeba haha

*And for some odd reason.. I found that so damn amusing, that I just couldn't stop laughing.. Seriously... it was like the time, my dad said something about the cow eats shit, and shits grass, it's not even remotely funny but I was laughing so damn hard..
I blame my over active imagination haha... but seeing myself as an amoeba.. [with my weird imagination] really got me crying tears of mirth... ~imagines self slithering along the floor.. and deciding to reproduce by splitting self into two~ if you remember how an amoeba takes in nutrients.. it's even funnier haha..*

Me: i find tat so amusing :p haha.. my twisted sense of humour.. == tats a first for me haha

C: nice try. i give u 3/10. 1 for funniness. 1 for originality since i said it first. 1 for sympathy

Me: i wasnt trying to b funny == but the amoeba seriously cracking me up.. first time i heard someone call me tat when i sd i've no interest in either sex haha

C: thats what u are

Me: ur funny la haha

C: go reproduce urself

*I was really laughing hard when I read this haha, due to the imagination above...*

Me: haha :))

C: one sunz is enough

*Well, the conversation suddenly took another turn talking about abused kids, and crap parents.. but I was still an amoeba hahaha and with that, I told him I needed to sleep.. and the amoeba conversation ended*

The next day I changed my nick to. "I'm an amoeba, And I'm loving it"

When I was telling Cheese about it.. He asked what's so good bout being an amoeba...?
And I was saying stuff like.. I don't need anyone, I can live alone.. I can reproduce a lone...etc

And Cheese dropped the bomb...

Cheese: What happens if you meet another amoeba?

Me: .....

Crap, I didn't think of that

Haha.. I totally forgot tat amoebas can reproduce with each other too haha....

What are Malaysian roads for?

My mom sent this to me through the mail, it's entertaining so here I am sharing..

What are roads in Malaysia used for?

Written by David Astley, an British/Ozzie guy now living in KL
http://www.xyzasia.com/malaysian-road-rules/

A guide for expatriate drivers in Malaysia

Since arriving in Malaysia in 1997, I have tried on many occasions to
buy a copy of the Malaysian road rules, but have come to the
conclusion that no such publication exists (or if it does, it has been
out of print for years). Therefore after carefully observing the
driving habits of Malaysian drivers, I believe I have at last worked
out the rules of the road in Malaysia. For the benefit of other
expatriates living in Malaysia, and the 50% of local drivers who
acquired their driving licences without taking a driving test, I am
pleased to share my knowledge below:

Q: What is the most important rule of the road in Malaysia?
A: The most important rule is that you must arrive at your destination
ahead of the car in front of you. This is the sacrosanct rule of
driving in Malaysia. All other rules are subservient to this rule.

Q: What side of the road should you drive on in Malaysia?
A: 99.7% of cars drive on the left hand side, 0.2% on the right hand
side, and 0.1% drive in reverse (be on the look out for drivers
reversing at high speed in the left hand lane of freeways, having just
missed their exit). Therefore on the basis of 'majority rules', it is
recommended that you drive on the left. However, be aware that only
90% of motorcyclists travel on the left hand side - the other 10% ride
in the opposite direction or on the sidewalk. Fortunately,
motorcyclists traveling in reverse are rarely seen.

Q: What are the white lines on the roads?
A: These are known as lane markers and were used by the British in the
colonial days to help them drive straight. Today their purpose is
mainly decorative, although a double white line is used to indicate a
place that is popular to overtake.

Q: When can I use the emergency lane?
A: You can use the emergency lane for any emergency, e.g. you are late
for work, you left the toaster plugged in at home, you are bursting to
go to the toilet, you have a toothache or you have just dropped your
Starbucks coffee in your lap. As it is an emergency, you may drive at
twice the speed of the other cars on the road.

Q: Do traffic lights have the same meaning as in other countries?
A: Not quite. Green is the same – that means "Go", but amber and red
are different. Amber means "Go like hell" and red means "Stop if there
is traffic coming in the other direction or if there is a policeman on
the corner". Otherwise red means the same as green. Note that for
buses, red lights do not take effect until five seconds after the
light has changed.

Q: What does the sign "Jalan Sehala" mean?
A: This means "One Way Street" and indicates a street where the
traffic is required to travel in one direction. The arrow on the sign
indicates the preferred direction of the traffic flow, but is not
compulsory. If the traffic is not flowing in the direction in which
you wish to travel, then reversing in that direction is the best
option.

Q: What does the sign "Berhenti" mean?
A: This means "Stop", and is used to indicate a junction where there
is a possibility that you may have to stop if you cannot fool the cars
on the road that you are entering into thinking that you are not going
to stop.

Q: What does the sign "Beri Laluan" mean?
A: This means "Give Way", and is used to indicate a junction where the
cars on the road that you are entering will give way to you provided
you avoid all eye contact with them and you can fool them into
thinking that you have not seen them.

Q: What does the sign "Dilarang Masuk" mean?
A: This means "No Entry". However, when used on exit ramps in
multi-storey car parks, it has an alternative meaning which is: "Short
cut to the next level up".

Q: What does the sign "Pandu Cermat" mean?
A: This means "Drive Smartly", and is placed along highways to remind
drivers that they should never leave more than one car length between
them and the car in front, irrespective of what speed they are
driving. This is to ensure that other cars cannot cut in front of you
and thus prevent you from achieving the primary objective of driving
in Malaysia, and that is to arrive ahead of the car in front of you.
If you can see the rear number plate of the car in front of you, then
you are not driving close enough.

Q: What is the speed limit in Malaysia?
A: The concept of a speed limit is unknown in Malaysia.

Q: So what are the round signs on the highways with the numbers, 60, 80 and 110?
A: This is the amount of the 'on-the-spot' fine (in ringgits - the
local currency) that you have to pay to the police if you are stopped
on that stretch of the highway. Note that for expatriates or locals
driving Mercedes or BMWs, the on-the-spot fine is double the amount
shown on the sign.

Q: Where do you pay the 'on-the-spot' fine?
A: As the name suggests, you pay it 'on-the-spot' to the policeman who
has stopped you. You will be asked to place your driving licence on
the policeman's notebook that he will hand to you through the window
of your car. You will note that there is a spot on the cover of the
notebook. Neatly fold the amount of your fine into four, place the
fine on the spot, and then cover it with your driving licence so that
it cannot be seen. Pass it carefully to the policeman. Then, with a
David Copperfield movement of his hands, he will make your money
disappear. It is not necessary to applaud.

Q: But isn't this a bribe?
A: Oh pleeease, go and wash your mouth out. What do you want? A
traffic ticket? Yes, you can request one of those instead, but it will
cost you twice the price, forms to fill out, cheques to write,
envelopes to mail, and then three months later when you are advised
that your fine was never received, more forms to fill out, a trip to
the police station, a trip to the bank, a trip back to the police
station, and maybe then you will wish you had paid 'on-the-spot'.

Q: But what if I haven't broken any road rules?
A: It is not common practice in Malaysia to stop motorists for
breaking road rules (because nobody is really sure what they are). The
most common reasons for being stopped are: (a) the policeman is hungry
and would like you to buy him lunch; (b) the policeman has run out of
petrol and needs some money to get back to the station; (c) you look
like a generous person who would like to make a donation to the police
welfare fund; or (d) you are driving an expensive car which means you
can afford to make a donation to the police welfare fund.

Q: Does my car require a roadworthy certificate before I can drive it
in Malaysia?
A: No, roadworthy certificates are not required in Malaysia. However
there are certain other statutory requirements that must be fulfilled
before your car can be driven in Malaysia. Firstly, you must ensure
that your windscreen is at least 50% obscured with English football
club decals, golf club membership stickers or condo parking permits.
Secondly, you must place a tissue box (preferably in a white lace
cover) on the back shelf of your car under the rear window. Thirdly,
you must hang as many CDs or plastic ornaments from your rear vision
mirror as it will support. Finally, you must place a Garfield doll
with suction caps on one of your windows. Your car will then be ready
to drive on Malaysian roads.

Q: What does a single yellow line along the edge of a road mean?
A: This means parking is permitted.

Q: What does a double yellow line along the edge of a road mean?
A: This means double parking is permitted.

Q: What does a yellow box with a diagonal grid of yellow lines painted
on the road at a junction mean?
A: Contrary to the understanding of some local drivers, this does not
mean that diagonal parking is permitted. It indicates a junction that
is grid-locked at peak hours.

Q: Can I use my mobile phone whilst driving in Malaysia?
A: No problem at all, but it should be noted that if you wish to use
the rear-vision mirror to put on your lipstick (women only please) or
trim your eyebrows at the same time as you are using a mobile phone in
the other hand, you should ensure that you keep an elbow free to steer
the car. Alternatively, you may place a toddler on your lap and have
the child steer the car whilst you are carrying out these other
essential driving tasks.

Q: Is it necessary to use indicator lights in Malaysia?
A: These blinking orange lights are commonly used by newly arrived
expatriate drivers to indicate they are about to change lanes. This
provides a useful signal to local drivers to close up any gaps to
prevent the expatriate driver from changing lanes. Therefore it is
recommended that expatriate drivers adopt the local practice of
avoiding all use of indicator lights. However, it is sometimes useful
to turn on your left hand indicator if you want to merge right,
because this confuses other drivers enabling you to take advantage of
an unprotected gap in the traffic.

Q: Why do some local drivers turn on their left hand indicator and
then turn right, or turn on their right hand indicator and then turn
left?
A: This is one of the unsolved mysteries of driving in Malaysia.

A person added this in

Q. What is the use of the hazard warning lights?
A. Contrary to all international protocol, this four way flashing light is switched on when the Polis DiRaja is escorting VIPs on the road to warn lesser mortals to move out of the way and not hinder the flow of the motorcade. Taking a cue from our finest (Polis DiRaja), motorists use this at the slightest excuse when it rains to tell other motorist to get out of the way as using this hazard light annoints them with powers that part the heavy traffic, somewhat akin to Moses parting the Red Sea.

31st December 2007

A shorter, less detailed version can be found on Generation Lim

Okay, this is a very delayed post.
My apologies that it took me 7 months to get these pictures up. At one point when I was free, I tried, I really did, but Maxis was being an ass..

And after that I got lazy.. etc.. exams.. etc.. and today the connection seems good.. so here it is..

Pulling memories out of my brain like Dumbledore did in Harry Potter; is no mean feat but I'll try my best to recount the events of the day...

I remember having to wake up in the morning.. about 10 that day, and headed to the curve.. because.... I was supposed to meet with Michelle [Lim Ai Ann aka Mike who was back for her holidays..] and Arvid, and we had breakfast at IKEA.

Then I'm attacked by a bout of amnesia, because I can't remember what we did, most probably walked around a bit, then Michelle had to leave, leaving only me and Arvid. So Arvid and I decided to watch a movie.. The Will Smith movie.. titled I Am Legend, I think that's the title.. It's bout Will Smith fighting zombies... [When we were in Croatia, I saw the trailer and Desmond said it was it would be a good show.. ]

As we had time, Arvid and I had lunch at a little shop right next to the cinema... you know, the one that sells those Star Wars action models.. They serve food too, and you can play with their board games there..

And I remember having Carbonara Pasta...

Since we were going to watch a movie, and the whole world knows that I can't stand the cold, I asked my brother to bring me a jacket since he was coming to the curve with his girlfriend to meet up with his friends as well, for a movie, karaoke and the countdown.. He had initially asked me a long, and I told him.. that I'd play by ear.. but from the looks of things, it looked like I would be joining him.. [And obviously I did...]

I had my movie, and Arvid had to leave to pick his niece up, since my brother's movie ended later than mine, I ended up spending some time in MPH, and almost fell asleep there, I felt dead tired... maybe it was because I slept late the night before.. and was out from morning till night. And well, My brother found me in MPH and brought me to meet his highschool friends, which I knew [Well some of them due to librarian and scouts...]

We thus headed to.. Starbucks, I remember, because I remember the logo haha. And we had some drinks while waiting for the rest of his gang before heading for the karaoke...

Now for the pictures to do the talking.. [I'll spare us the cliché of a picture says...]

This was taken before Michelle left, we were waiting for Arvid who went to the gentlemen's, And since the decorations were so pretty.. I asked her to take a shot for me.. I think I missed snow too..
Inside the Curve, the Decorations were really pretty, and here we are, Me and my brother's girlfriend, Junko. this was taken, while we were waiting for my brother's other friends.

Here we are again :) the decorations were so pretty..

Well, obviously we have to show the happy couple :p

Well after cam-whoring a bit around the place, we met up with the rest of his friends I think, or I think we headed to Starbucks first. Then we headed to Redbox for the karaoke. Seeing all my seniors, I honestly felt kind of out of place.. but I guess I was lucky Junko was there? :) And well, I did know some of them... so it was fine.. After settling the karaoke room and all, we headed of to our karaoke room, to sing and to eat..

The food was served buffet style, so we had to leave the room, to get the food, and go back in to eat.. and we sang, and sang.. And from previous posts, or if you know me personally, you would know that I love to sing, so yeah, I sang a lot too :p It was fun..

My brother and his mates, singing.. :p

Me encouraging Junko to participate by singing with her, We sang the song from NANA the movie, Endless Story. [Damn, my memory is sooo good haha selective memory that is.. haha]

Actually, A few of my friends, who were still in Malaysia, [it's not many, and honestly even when they were in Malaysia, I never went with them to do any countdown for the new year... Sad.. I know.. I've no life.. sigh] called me, and since I said I was in the curve, they were saying.. okay let's meet up there.. but the amount of people, plus the bad handphone reception meant that we didn't meet.. The only ones I met are ccy and wei hao, who came to join in the karaoke at it's later stage. If they had asked to meet in the crowd.. I definitely wouldn't have found them...

Oh, also, the karaoke group was so big, that we had to separate into 2 rooms..

But, here is all of us, I think together in the photo.. Even I don't know who is who.. so ermm, just open your eyes out for anyone you recognise.. And I don't know why, but I looked damned tan in this picture...

After the karaoke session, As I said we hit the streets outside the curve to meet the crowd who were all ready for the countdown to the new year..

By the way.. did I mention, I met Jo Weng in the curve... Well, that's just random.. I must say.. he lost some weight and built some muscles, I guess :p

Anyway, since we were out there, waiting for the countdown, we cam-whored..
Results -->
The ladies in a line.. No, it's not a line up for you to chose a girl :p it's just some pretty girls in a line up.. Why do I look so dark? Was it the beer??? Uh, yeah, I didn't mention did I, there was beer at the karaoke...

Now it's the guys in the line up :p take your pick of which slave you would like.. muahaha.. joking..

And well, the countdown started, and we had fireworks..!!

Isn't it pretty? This is a nice shot :)

Here we have ccy, me and wei hao :p I sure hope those two had as much fun as I did.. Both of them are kind of conservative.. What with a random bunch of people, which they may have never spoken to in school.. So I don't know if they enjoyed themselves...

Here we have Sheau Yih, Me, お兄ちゃん[my brother] & 純子[Junko]

When the fireworks ended, we headed to a nearby cafe for a little yum cha/tea as we expected it to be too jam to leave the area... So what else to do.. but play around..

In red box, they actually gave us this little party boxes with balloons etc.. those orange things you've seen in the earlier pictures are actually from the party box.. and what you will see below, is also from the party box..

The birth of two new superheroes to save the world? [I blame Dark Knight..] haha.. It's just Junko & I :p

And that's it for this super long post...

赤崖

Title: Red Cliff

二零零八年七月二十五日:金曜日

Today I went to Bandar Utama to watch the movie red cliff with my parents.

I've always been one who has been sort of fascinated with our Chinese Legends and History and all, though laziness, prevents me from doing further research and I usually except what falls into my lap.. haha.. but well as Dave said on his blog before.. it's the effort, have to put in the effort for whatever we do [I recall something about a fish to big for the pan, so the fisherman let it go... haven't that fisherman heard of knives.. and something called, cutting the fish up to fit the pan? =.=']...

So since it's the holidays for me now.. maybe I should.. the internet is vast... but I prefer to read books.. maybe I should go and look for those old picture books, and well, though my Chinese is crap.. they usually have those little English translations at the bottom :p

Okay... I went to watch that show, for those who don't know, it's based on Chinese History, and a novel which fictionalised that history called the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, it's based on the time before China was united into what it was, and it covers our ever legendary God of war Guan Gong, the red faced warrior.

As a child, I do watch those TVB shows [relying on the Malay subtitles then, to understand what is going on, because they use the old formal way of speaking in such shows.. and I don't understand... sadly... even now...the old way of speaking, can be really confusing... plus the proverbs and all.. haha] and from there, I know of our Chinese Legends, plus some reading as well, and lucky for bananas like me... who can't really read Chinese, there are some books with some simple illustrations and English translation.

I like reading all those old stories, the Tales of Liao Zhao, of fox spirits, the monkey king, the goddess of mercy, the eight immortals.. I basically read what I could get my hands on... [no internet at that time yet.. and well. .the internet wasn't that popular at that time..] and watched whatever they showed on television, though I must say, sometimes TVB likes to exaggerate, but guess that's for the ratings...

But anyway, I deviated off the topic... as I was saying, since I'm into stuff like that [though my memory is fuzzy on the storyline and all, I didn't finish the story, as I couldn't find the rest of the books at my relatives place.. I was just left hanging there... maybe I should go out and buy them myself :p] and so is my dad... we went off to catch it..

The movie seems to centre around the epic battle at the red cliff, hence, obviously its title... And if you don't know the story at all. .you wouldn't know how all the generals and all met up etc.. Wouldn't know their relations and all with each other... I sort of remember cause of the television dramas... but I prefer to get my hands on the books.... it's been years.. and I was but a child when I read and watched the story.. so I've sort of forgotten most of it..

But the movie overall... it's ok, too much fighting scenes... there were some funny moments, and some brotherhood/loyalty to friends [sorry, don't know how to describe yi hei in English] scenes.. but overall it was ok.. the battles, especially the use of the ba gua [ermm, 8 formation?] tactic was good, but when I read on wikipedia, apparently in REAL history such a move wasn't used till after that period.... but oh well.. movies are movies... they need the ratings to rake in money.. still, it was impressive... A real good war tactic...

However, I will say that.. I want to catch the next one... because the cinematography is beautiful, and well, I want to see how they fight it out.. though I roughly recall how it will turn out, seeing it on screen is another matter... but that's about it... it was okay

And I don't know why, this past two days since after the exams.. I feel so tired always.. I haven't even watched an episode of anime yet.. but I am trying to catch up on my manga downloads haha.. so that's all.. I'm going to try and turn in early tonight.. hope the green tea from my Japanese dinner, don't keep me up the whole night.. :p
