I'm sorry, call me an insensitive human with high expectations if you will...
But i think manners are the basics for a mature human society. we need manners and respect.
Introducing your friends to other friends.
Saying hello aunty/uncle when you meet your parents friends.
Taking or giving things to people, especially your elders with two hands.
Waiting for the elders to start eating first before you start.
Offering to carry heavy items for elders or even friends who can't really manage..
It's all the little bitty things, which can turn out to be big things... But i digress...
Of the 225, 000 [out of the 3.75 million ] people in the state of Selangor, Yes.. The estimated polite 225, 000 people.. I met one of them today... in the Bandar Utama Shopping Centre's Parking lot.
First let me say.. i do have a friend or two who have really good manners.. Unfortunately to the rest, I'm sorry but I'll be blunt: The manners you guys posses is horrid.. Please improve on it.. Manners are important.
Secondly, on to the main reason to this post.. Today Cheese came over after running an errand to give me my ermm.. fix...? Okay I'm not on drugs.. he came to give me the Anime that he has been helping me download, as he is blessed with a more stable internet connection unlike my area...
I've discovered that it doesn't matter if you are using Maxis or Streamyx.. The connection just sucks. But I digress...
So we chatted a bit.. and transferred some files.. then we sort of raided my treasury of Anime for things cheese would like to watch during his current holidays....
Later as my mom wanted to go to Bandar Utama to shop for a good pair of slippers for the both of us... Off we went, and since it was more convenient for Cheese to get home from BU, We all went together :)
[by the way we had the Delifrance's Rm12.90 dinner thingie.. it's only so-so, just FYI, and we had Jusco's Sushi, Yummy!! :p ]
Thanks Cheese, for the anime :)
After dropping Cheese off, we went into the parking lot in the new wing.. As we were searching for a vacant lot.. Whole and behold... We meet someone who belongs in the 225, 000 polite people in the state of Selangor..
When he saw us, he gave us a nice broad smile, and indicated that he was vacating his lot, as we made a round in our car to reach his spot, he was even waiting for us to come before getting into his car! Such a nice man..
For once.. after meeting the 3.525 million of rude people in Selangor, I've finally come across one of those who belong in that minuscule 6%. I can't help it but be touched. Seeing that the probability of me meeting a nice polite person is six in a hundred people... He was a nice Malay man driving a Mercedes.
Ahh~ although the probability was low.. I finally met another nice polite person.... I'm so touched.... (well the probability of meeting a nice person should be better than 6/100 but I'm talking about one with manners to boot.. )
How I wish to meet more of them...
You know.. the only thing the subject moral in school teaches you, is all the theoretical stuff. Like helping the blind man cross the road, giving your seat up for someone more deserving, and respecting your elders.. But it only does so much... Remember.. and I quote my mother from like.. 20 years ago to me:
"Manners start at home"And to the kind Malay man today, although i suffered some casualties in the shopping mall
[bumped into a sharp corner of a display & knocking a separate sharp corner with my shin, not to mention my mom accidentally giving me a black eye with her knee.. ooh yes, bad day of injuries indeed, someone's cursing me, or that corner in Scholl, is just cursed.. all 3 injuries occurred there..]
