Exequy Origin: Late Middle English via Old French; from Latin exsequi 'follow after'.
What follows after? 100 days of musing.
The bell shines and tinkles as it hangs off my phone, a cute little accessory.
There's a shadow by the door, the doorbell rings.
Fireworks exploding in the night sky, bathing everything with a gentle glow of colourful lights.
But...
I can't hear any of those anymore....
It's silent....
I know you didn't mean to.
But you took the sounds with you when you left.
It will be a while before I find those sounds again.

***
I remember the day we first met, it was in the summer of 2002.
Not long after leaving the warnth of your mother's womb, where sight and sound were still foreign to you. Where your little legs could hardly propel you anywhere but to your mother's bosom to nurse. You came to me, like you knew, and as I later knew, that it was our destiny to be together.
And we were, for 13 years, 1 month and 24 days. And I cherished every single day of that.
You did a good job baby. よく頑張った!
I know you tried really hard, and I'm sorry that till the end you were waiting for me and I couldn't be there with you.
My little carp has been reborn as a dragon and has ascended to the heavens where he now belongs.
with love,
