since this is unedited and from my chat room, don't mind the acronyms.. so now i invite my blog readers to read the conversation (or lack of it on my part, too busy cutting and pasting..

Nicholas Leong (Nick): Well our current lifestyle is only possible thanks to them. Not MCA, not Gerakan, nor any opposition party. We can afford good tertiary education without having the need to even mortgage our house like how some people needed to years back.
Economically we're at stable point. We've got the highest human resource rate and our people do not need to outsource themselves to other countries like how Indonesia and Phillipines (thats why we have no 'Malaysian maids')
The media ruling under Badawi has actully been more relaxed as compared to when Mahathir was in power. True our nation is still semi-autocratic, but last time things about DAP and all that you'll never even get the chance to hear cause Mahathir will just ISA everyone to hell if he has to
Like I say la. I'm realistic. I support BN not because I'm pro-BN
but because of where we are today lerh
Malay are the lowest income earners today (lower class, losing to even lower class indians
CHinese is by far the richest race without all their support, and Badawi/Malaysia although slow but is steadily opening up to globalise trade
car insurance and tax all were slightly significantly lower than before also (my lecturer checked right after class and he mentioned it to me also)
more and more people can now afford foriegn cars in Malaysia, and Badawi isn't pro-Proton despite having to help it la (Proton plays a very huge role in our country's economy thats why they cannot simply remove it)
Technically, there is no such thing as pure 'equility' lerh
Mahathir has mentioned it before, that this was an Islamic nation
based on our roots, its true lo that the other races were not the first one as per-say to claim this land as our original soil based on ancestrial
The one race ruling (Malay) has a significant role also wan
Our country is made out of 3 main races
imagine if there were no proper governess for it, what would it be like
Indians and Chinese and Malays will DEFINATELY fight like crazy and there would actually be less race accepting than we would now.
Once the three races were considered closer than they are now, mainly because the new generation forgot why we have to put up with the other races
and lets face it if the CHinese were in power do you think we would give face to the other parties? other races no chance also its a rational thing.
look at Singapore and China are they more liberal with their publics as our government is with us? and those countries are ruled by Chinese
Singapore enjoys huge economic success mainly because of the ratio of its land, combined with early British help in administration and then you know la chinese, money is in our blood or something
Me : hey msia also had help ok. n all spore has is oni man power they don't have natural resource. yet their yrly turn out is 30 mil usd u noe how much is ours? 3.5 mil. wat u r saying is wat they hv done in the past, n i m not asking for a chinese govt to rule msia.i want a united party as i stated on my blog..
Nick: Yea, but look at the policies imposed on the nation. There is no such thing as a pure united party in Malaysia wan le. Its very clear ever since Malaysian Idol 2 also. Easy only. All I ask is what has DAP done for us lo. Or at least for me and my family. I'm not asking something large scale. True the media let government control, but I'm sure word of mouth like how I get to know PAS isn't all its what it is potrayed to be
Me: so all this u jsut get fr main stream media la tat means? you didn't look at other sources, like other people's blog, or online news? like malaysian today, or malaysia kini?
Nick: On the contrary, I'm actually un-affected by the media. You htink I don't know all the useless speech and messages made meh. come on, have you read Aliran? An Opposition support mag. Its pretty small lerh. 'nipis' not small lol. I htink amongst all of you. I can surpass you all as a politician la. Its in my blood. But for what I've seen, the opposition keep on slandering the government only. years after years they slander
I mean our parents and those before them, I'm sure they would have been like us at one stage rite, but most of them now support BN. There is a reason to why they're doing it lerh
Me:dont you think that the govt also slanders them as well? they are both the same. but from what you are saying it's like you are just to comfortable for a change, BN is too powerful liao that they think they can do whatever they wan.. thats wat we are fighting to change.
we want transparency, we want to know where our tax payer's money goes to, we want the chinese rights to be heard, the indian rights to be heard. look at chew mei fun, such a poor thing, beaten down to nothing. she can't even have her own say anymore..
Nick: Fact remains, what has DAP, PAS or PKR done for us. Very simple only. I omit media information la. I see the world around me, and listen to those around me. Now I'm dumb founded about the opposition la alright? So what have they done for us that you know of that benefitted us?
Me: if you don't give the opposition the chance to prove themselves what can we do? we have to show the govt tat we are aggrieved.. supporting BN all the way don't you think we are being taken for granted?
Nick: To me I have nothing against the opposition, its just that I need a reason to support them. They can tell me stuffs. I'm a Mass COmm student graduating in Journalism, Public Relations and Media Broadcasting and its Policies. Heaven forbid I don't know how politics work in one way or another. Its opening up slowly lo. Say edi compared to Mahathir's time we don't know anything and can't do nuts liao. You chatting with me on this is a testament how we are able to communicate about the scenario. I owuld give them a fighting chance, if I have actually 'felt' or have seen what they have done for those around me and myself lo.
see ah, if I give them chance la, or they get chance. and they don't get fundings la k? Lets say government being an ass (actually, other countries don't actually give fund to opposition parties as well if you follow their progress. then our fresh party of course need fundings rite? SO they can do two things
1. They have their own funds either by themselves or through the citizens
2. Attack government for being inconsiderate
Then how long will they be doing that? A political party cannot function without having own reserves.
Me: you see the problem is, that we have to elect them to give them a chance..it's telling a witness u cant testify in ct cos u nvr testify before.. there's no logic in that, you have to give them a chance to prove themselves, and looking at teresa kok, she's ok wat..
well u talking about parliament or state seat not getting their money? anyway either way, they will get it, it's just harder.. but still that is even more a reason to vote against the government, they are too strong, i mean what happens when there is only one dominant party? yyes you may get ur infrastructure and stuff, but w/o competition they won't improve
Nick: All I ask, is a reason to give chance to the opposition. Telling me "We will see the difference after" is like gambling everything away. What if I odn't see any changes and then you say it takes time, and time, and in the end we got like 20years down the road liao.
Dominant then mai dominant lo. They are the dominant party anyways and look at us now. you and your siblings can even go overseas, and when you came back yo ufelt dissatisfied also.
it shows our country's condition is not that bad edi. We we don't see it like that is because we demand more and more at a rapid rate. We want to equalize that with other foriegn countries
Me: hey, my siblings n i going overseas has nothing to do with the govt, my parents had to stinge away to get my siblings and i sent overseas.. if i was sponsored by the govt tats a diff story, but i wasn't,getting into public uni's or getting the choice tat u wan in public uni's aint easy
Nick: yea, thats what I'm talking about. your parents don't even need assiting funds to send you all overseas and exchange rate is not cheap. thats why we forget. we always "no assistance' but look at us now. Was I sponsored? I didn't get to go Aus to study and I don't even complain
Why must I be sponsored then only I support? Bare in mind public sector their own was and that much is same for foriegn countries. If there is no real gains or interest 'support' is stand alone
Me: tats cos u r easily content, to you, you are happy with what you have, you don't crave change. i mean, to me that's your character, as long as you are comfortably off, you don't give a damn about anything else
Nick: that is where you're wrong. none of you can give me the answer I need. I mean its real simple. Convince me. All I ask is what has those parties done for me, minus I have to go read journals and mags about what they have done. I didn't do it for our current ruling government (I didn't purposely find what they have done for us via media, everything is very clearly seen) so as the opposition, I'm sure thats not too much to ask. DOn't tell me what can and will be done. tell me what has been done.
Who you as a millionaire just give up have your life's money to an unknown stranger without basis? Even Donald Trump doesn't hire for fun
on my comments to end the interview as i was tired of cutting and pasting, and having trouble from paying full attention to his arguments... and also as it seemed that this conversation was getting me no where, except increasing my annoyance..
Nick: See? There it is again ignorance You support a party you cannot even defend
Me: i dont call tat ignorance. i dont call tat ignorance. u talk n talk. but all u wan is results. u r no risk taker. so tats sufficient already, wats there to elaborate more.. ur stand is tat, "i m not taking risks.". while i m willing to take the risk.. so i want to avoid thing from getting heating up
Nick: Hahaha attack me for all you want. You cannot defend what you do not even full grasp. Bare in mind politicians are politicians la, Besides, I cannot vote marh. See? It gives you all more motivation to make that change. I can't vote for BN and thats less a vote. I take risks more than you ever will. don't judge me on that part.
I'm so ashamed you would attack me like that. I guess thats why I support BN. to people like you who don't even say thanks
Me: i already stated my stand in my blog posts already. so its fine tats ur stand n tats my stand, n from wat u r saying.. it seems to me tat u don wan to take risks, u oni wan results, whcih can oni b shown by the party who is currently in power.
about my statements. i don't find anything wrong with that, wat's there to be ashamed of? i'm jsut stating what think..
Nick: What is there to say when I'm talking to someone that has to attack me on my credibility lol. I didn't say you were an ungrateful young ingrate or anything now did I?
And yes I take more risks than you will ever take during your life stime so don't cal lme someone who doesn't take risks
Me: i m not talking about those kind of risks, i m talking about political risks.. those are different things. see tats y i wanted to stop, its becoming an argument already .
so what if i m ungrateful to the govt, for all they have done.. i believe in change, and our govt needs it after being 50yrs in power.. tats too long they are becomning like dictators, its no longer democratic..
Nick: Give me a reason to support. Thats all I ask. Minus what is to be promised, do you not think I'm taking a risk of my own supporting a party that could have done seemingly so much more than what they have already done in 50 years?
Me: why do we need to support? there are various reasons. why do you think there is HINDRAF and BERSIH..? we want transparency, we don't know how the govt is using our tax payer's money, we are not getting the rights we want, the quotas in the public universities, we wanted more chinese schools etc.. all this are the issues the chinese community are looking for
Nick: Do you know what Hindraf demanded or no
Me: they are lobbying fortheir rights, they started after the temple was demolished 2 days before deepavali
Nick:Not really. We wern't form Chinese schools. There was a chinese school beside our own school and you didn't even go to it x_x
Me: jsut because we didn't go to a chinese school, doesn't mean we can't lobby for it? its' for the future generation, look at how many of you ppl cant speak chinese let alone read and write, so wat id i wanna snd my kids to a chinese school in the future? there is a lack of it
Nick: They also wanted repayment from the Brits. which the amount was absurd
Me: i know, we future lawyers were discussing it. but do u noe wat happened at their march? the govt refused to give them a permit, and the excuse they gave was not enough police force to ensure the safety of the ppl and yet they had enough police to come out to fire tear gas and water cannons.
Nick: I know ah. I'm in Malaysia the entire time don't know also will know lerh. Foriegn countries also required rallies to have a approved permit before they can do anything wert (a riot is another matter) tear gas and watercannons, even Indonesia or some other country might not be as forgiving ah. Straight away hentam.
Me: let's end this, we have our own beliefs so i don't want this to be an argument...
(n/b: it's not that i'm giving in, both sides are not relenting.. it's just that i'm too tired and lazy to argue liao, all my arguments have been stated in my posts before this and i need to wake up tomorrow morning to go vote.. looks like my parents want to be the early birds..
i left him with two site from malaysian kini supplieed by satoshi kun.. which i shall go read now..

LOL i dun wanna take this argument on the net, so i'll juz make a few points.
1) Opposition doesn't get a cent from the government or you, but they spoke for you. When unjust is done, did MCA or MIC spoke against umno? Remember when the MCA handed a memorandum to the PM to stop islamisation only to have the PM said enough, no more? Remember when MCA wanted to close the namewee case only to have umno said no? remember when hishamuddin wanted to bathe the keris with chinese blood? remember when a bn mp said "tak suka boleh boleh keluar", or the "bocor" mp ridiculing women? BN-UMNO-MCA-MIC is there as a make-believe coalition that pretends everything is good. This is where the opposition comes in and tell them everything is not good.
2) When BERSIH wanted to speak to the PM did he listen? When they wanted to apply a permit they were rejected, twice. When all they wanted was a peaceful march for a FAIR and CLEAN electoral reform, they were provoked and shot wit water canon and tear gas. That's telling the citizens "Fuck u, i dun want it to be fair". Same against HINDRAF. You can sit at home pretending everything is good but u cannot deny tat in rural areas lands were cheated off the poor, people taking advantage of certain policies, sweeping shares meant for the citizens, etc. etc.
3) Religious tolerance? Have you heard of lina joy? The indian fella whose body were snatched? Hindu temples demolished? Churches being denied permits?
I'll say, gimme a reason to support Bn and i'll give u 10 why not to. Correct correct correct? :)
BN has brought development to Malaysia. BN has improved our nation since independence. BN has done alot alot for us. But a running a country is not just about development. Opposition deserves a vote this year because UMNO's power needs to be balanced. An overpower party will only ruin the country as the party can execute whatever plans without an opposition voice. This is not democracy anymore. Policy is made with regards to a special group of interest rather than with regards to the voice of entire malaysia.
