This is my quote to Barisan Nasional as a present for the upcoming elections.
The ever famous quote from Abraham Lincoln:
"Government of the people, By the people, For the people, shall not perish from the Earth"
7th March 2008, Friday..
Malaysia’s National Newspaper The Star…
On the front page with the headlines:
Vote for a voice in the Govt, says Abdullah
Penang :
“You have to decide if you want a louder voice in Parliament or representation in the Cabinet, where they can be more effective in representing all communities” The Barisan Nasional Chairman said.Another Paragraph from the same article:
“He said that if the Chinese did not have representation in the cabinet, their requests will not be heard. However Abdullah said that the Barisan wanted the Chinese community to be part of the government. ‘We do not want to have a government that does not have representation of all ethnic groups in the cabinet. We want to be the best and I want to do the best for the rakyat’ Abdullah said”~~~~~~
Page 10 of the same newspaper with the headlines:
Vote for own interest, Chinese told
Kuala Lumpur:
“Don’t harm your community interest by voting for the Opposition, the Chinese voters have been told. They were also told that their representation in the government would be affected if they over-react and vote in opposition candidates at the expense of the MCA and Gerakan
MCA central committee member Datuk Wong Mook Leong said if the Chinese voters get taken in by the ‘angry speeches of the opposition’ then their voices would not get heard within the corridors of power.
‘Chinese voters should not let their anger turn into situation where they punish the MCA and the Gerakan which ultimately meant punishing themselves’.”
Although it’s said by two different people, as quoted in the newspaper, it’s essentially the same meaning.. So is this BN’s new strategy?
Before I start, I will first apologise
Many, many years back, I decided that when I was eligible to vote, I would already have a party in mind, because to me, BN would win either way,(naïve thinking of a child.. since they are strong let them win..) so I thought what the heck.. But as I grew older, I grew my own mind, my own thinking, and with all the happenings occurring in the country (walk for justice etc), people change, and I am, unfortunately for BN
I’ve been exposed to an overseas country, and realised the importance of political equality, thus I pounced along the chance and rode along with the election fever to present you my views as I have been doing for the last week or so..
My title for this post says it all.. WTF is BN thinking?
Vote Barisan Nasional or “your voices will not be heard”????!!!
So in other words you are giving us NO choice, we MUST vote BN so that our opinions are heard..
Well I heard that when PJU’s Chew Mei Fun made it into Parliament, initially she did raise out her voice and opinions, and what happened to her? Look at her now, all subdued,
It’s not really the people’s fault that we want to vote the opposition.. The Selangor state has so many educated people, we are a population of 76, 618 in just PJU itself. Imagine the whole state...
We have the internet, who are you trying to lie to?
"Your voice will not be heard.. No Chinese Representative in the Cabinet... "
"Punish the Gerakan, Punish MCA??!!"
It sounds like you are trying to imply exactly that. We, well at least I, believe in political equality, I am not voting just for the sake of voting.
I really thought hard, and I really looked carefully and thoughtfully at both parties.. but I’ve been a Malaysian for all of my 21 years of my life, and guess what, since I was a kid, I’ve known of certain things going around. (We all now what are those ‘certain things’ so there's no need to elaborate right?)
I was exposed to the International Movement for a Just World (JUST for youths) and guess what? I learnt even more things, yet I still had faith in the government then. To me, they were still fine with the medical subsidies, and petrol subsidies.. I’m thankful for that.. But medical subsidies.. Guess what, I’m not exactly entitled for it, nope, ever since I turned 18. (they must have expected me to start working and to pay for my own medical fees after high school.. such thoughtfulness..
Even though I was still a student at 19 till my current age, i'm not covered.. Why?
I mean I don’t see the problem here, both my parents served the government, so why can’t I be covered till I graduate, regardless of what institution I study at??!!
To put it in their way (ie BN's way) of phrasing it, I’m being punished for wanting a better education.. Oh woe is me…
The way they were phrasing themselves in the newspapers, it's as if we are in the wrong for wanting something better, we are in the wrong for wanting our voices to be heard.. if the BN had been doing their job all the while, then we wouldn’t be voting for the opposition now, would we?
The reason we are voting the opposition is because from the looks of it MCA can’t say nor do much, that’s why we are putting in someone who doesn’t fear your "oppression"..
It’s as simple as that, times have changed. Maybe in the urban areas, you may continue with your lies and manipulation, but not in the cities. You can manipulate the newspapers and lie all you want
Our media has no freedom of speech, because they fear losing their permits, is that how it’s supposed to work? At times like this we thank god for other news source such as, Malaysiakini. (Though there were some times, I felt that you really had to analyse what they posted)
But that’s how it is… BN stop threatening the people,
I could go on and on and never be finished.. so stop being such a pain in the ass, and get yourself working.. i'm disappointed with our Prime Minister... So unethical... Threatening his rakyat the day before elections.. that's why i said STUPID MOVE!!
The most idealistic political equal party in the country would be, to me that is.. A party which doesn’t go...
"Vote UMNO to protect the Malay rights, vote MCA to protect the Chinese rights, vote MIC to Protect the Indian rights.."Guess whom are you fighting?? No one but yourselves..
"Vote for US, Barisan Nasional, for equality, REGARDLESS of race and religion.."(That means, getting rid of... For example, the special rights like Indonesia. They are going along well without it, so why are we keeping it? Yes I’m talking about doing away with the quotas, if you don’t want to lose to other races, then just study harder. Competition can sometimes be healthy.. someone please tell the BN that…)
But I guess that’s just a hopeless dream of mine, which will never come true in my lifetime.. Because no matter how multiracial and harmonious we Malaysians claim to be, there are still a lot of racists out there… Good riddance to us all, and Happy Voting tomorrow.
*And well if you disagree with my point of view, that these articles in the newspaper are carrying a somewhat mildly threatening notice to the voters, then please just assume that i'm imagining things on my own accord
BN what has happened to you?
You know, it's a sign when the people start to oppose you. People (or at least most people) don't oppose just for the fun nor sake of it, people oppose because they are not happy about something, so instead of stressing on how to opress it, you should just go to the root of the problem and fix it...
To think that even I, had the compassion to pity the Prime Minister (
What on earth is happening to my beloved nation...
